Istiusmodi -> Istius modi, I think.

a few -> aliquot

notes -> nota. Nota is the perfect passive participle of nosco, noscere, novi, notus, and literally means, things that have been learned. Equivalent to memoranda, which literally means, things that must be remembered (memor). There's also agenda, things that must be done (ago) and acta, things that have been done, and data, things that have been given (do).

re maiore -> rebus maioribus (plural)

Hobbit-lore -> lore of the Hobbit -> doctrina Hobbitis

primus iter -> primum iter (iter is neuter)

As for istiusmodi/istius modi, Lewis and Short lists them both. However, I think that separating the two makes it easier on the eyes.

As for a few, I could not find an adequate latin adjective to take the place of pauca. I will have to remember aliquot. It being undeclinable makes it easier to remember.

re maiore -> rebus maioribus: I forgot that that was supposed to be plural.

primus -> primum: My bad. For some reason I was thinking that iter was masculine.
