Export not working
[recensere]Only the title page is exporting, rather than the whole work. I'll investigate but please let me know if you have a simple answer as to why. --JimKillock (disputatio) 16:24, 22 Maii 2022 (UTC)
- I’m afraid this seems to be rather intended (or code is too tricky for WS-Export), @JimKillock.
- After having submitted something like Formula:Code to the second table (but since it was actually Formula:Code, resulting HTML code reads Formula:Code; which is obviously wrong), I realized that my submission was the third change pending to be accepted. After that, I experienced that I cannot see previous submissions.
- I inspected the HTML source for the page ant the first table contains a Formula:Code (which makes sense for that first table). I wonder whether this might affect to no export for the second table.
- In any case, since my submission was wrong, I deleted it (adding a new modification awaiting for approval).
- Since the page was last reviewed more than half a decade ago, I wonder whether it makes any sense to expect contributions at all (I mean, from users such as myself).
- BTW, if HTML code is garbage, I only got
Formula:Codedisplayed for{{code|class="ws-export"}}(and the other ones). - Just in case it might help, Ousia (disputatio) 11:30, 15 Augusti 2025 (UTC)
- @Ousia This seems to be working now; I removed id=toc in case that was the issue (eg it excluded the table as a wiki-only component). JimKillock (disputatio) 18:07, 4 Septembris 2025 (UTC)
- Many thanks for your improvement. It seems to work now. It would be great to be able to edit the transliterated Greek words and expressions (regex search for only
([^n ]on|ou)\b), 658 matches in the ePub file), but this isn’t a task for regular users in this Wikisource. Many thanks for your help, Ousia (disputatio) 08:49, 6 Septembris 2025 (UTC)- I guess not, but I might help with aligning the text with a suitable edition, so that it can be properly proofed; adding the Greek back in would be aided by this as well. - The Internet Archive contains a 1903 edition (reprinted in 1959: vol. I & vol. II). Both clearly state that they are reprints from a previous edition (editio stereotypa editionis prioris (MCMIII)).
- But that doesn’t prevent Teubner from printing on the next pages Alle Rechte […] vorbehalten […] © […] 1959 (all rights reserved).
- It would be a nice to have that edition, but the Internet Archive doesn’t even know that the copyright is really from 1903. Then it is in the public domain in the US. As for the country of origin of de:w:Carl Hosius (Germany), his original work was in the public domain in 2008.
- As for the task itself, I’m afraid that the editing question needs to be solved first.
- Many thanks for your help. Ousia (disputatio) 16:30, 7 Septembris 2025 (UTC)
- The 1903 edition seems to be on Archive also; here in one volume and in two, vol 1 and vol 2. So we could just use that.
- I think the "pending changes" will be abandoned soon, although it doesn't apply to transcription pages, only to the main book pages, and not to "unreviewed" ie, new, main book pages. In this case that would give us options.
- Let me know if these editions look OK. There is a question about importing all of the critical apparatus - a good idea but also a big job. It might be sensible to get the text lined up with the edition pages first, and add the critical apparatus as a second step. JimKillock (disputatio) 08:01, 8 Septembris 2025 (UTC)
- The edition in two volumes seems fine to me (when briefly paging through). Critical apparatus? We barely have resources only to recover Greek text. Besides, I don’t think this is part of the aims of Wikisource (afaIk). Many thanks for your comment, Ousia (disputatio) 17:21, 8 Septembris 2025 (UTC)
