The 'need' for Bureaucrats[recensere]

I know it's common on some other projects to decide whether to promote by asking "do we need more crats?" I reject this concept. The crat tools are not particularly dangerous (in fact, the admin tools are substantially more dangerous). I agree with a position I heard on another project that all users (I will add "after demonstrating their trustworthiness and competence") should become admins and eventually bureaucrats. This will ensure that tools are readily available. Sure we can wait but it makes us a less active project by its very nature. When users have to wait then they go do something else while they wait. Certainly tools have to be used responsibly and in accordance with consensus; that's why users must show trustworthiness and competence over some period of time - possibly substituted in part with activity and demonstrated trust and confidence on other projects. I don't think it's particularly relevant how often a user uses the tools - only that he or she is active on the project in some way (long inactive users are a risk). Although I don't go so far as full unification of rights as exists on es.wp - I think users need some time as an admin before becoming a crat - I admire that system.--Doug.(Disputatio Conlationes) 04:10, 5 Octobris 2011 (UTC)[reply]
