Hello Candalua, more interwiki language link bots are definitely welcome and occasional interwiki bots don't necessarily need a flag on every project; but you should be aware that on most projects running a bot through a non-bot account is prohibited. I think I saw that you had a bot on vec, why don't you use that for interwiki language edits here?--Doug.(Disputatio Conlationes) 21:02, 25 Februarii 2011 (UTC)Reply

You just said it: because it's just occasional, I'm not planning to ask for flags, and so I prefer to use the same account for my occasional edit by hand and by bot. Honestly I don't see the difference... in the end, it's always me doing the job! ;-) But if you insist... Candalua 00:06, 26 Februarii 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, I wouldn't say that I insist. I just know that some wikis (en for example) have supposedly strict rules about it and the standard policy says it. There are no written policies here about anything. ;-) --Doug.(Disputatio Conlationes) 08:19, 26 Februarii 2011 (UTC)Reply

A lot? Only 50 edits today, and the last time I've run it was 5 months ago! :-) Anyway, I'm not comfortable with running it with the flag: interwikies on Wikisource are often used in non-standard ways, such as putting multiple interwikies to the same language, or using cross-namespace interwikies because not all subdomains have activated the Author namespace... there were some problems in the past, and I cannot guarantee that it will always work properly. So I prefer to run it without flag, so that malfunctions will be easier to be detected. Candalua 22:22, 7 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply

That's fine. It seemed like you ran it a bunch at once. Seemed like more but I guess you're right now that I look at the contributions. Yes, I know that they are strange sometimes, that's mostly why I stopped trying. Author space is a good place to work though.--Doug.(Disputatio Conlationes) 22:25, 7 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply

Formula lwtrans

[recensere]

Hello Candalua, I saw you created this new template here and on fr. - what is the difference between this template and iwpages, if there is any ? Thank you for your impressive work on interwiki works :) --Hsarrazin 17:07, 27 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply

Iwpages takes pages from the Page namespace, Iwtrans takes them from main namespace. I discovered its existence just a couple of days ago! :-) Candalua 17:09, 27 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll try to document that series of templates in French - thank you :) --Hsarrazin 17:11, 27 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply
BTW, that's a much better name for it. On 'en' and 'old' it's called iwpages which is confusingly close to the other one. Though, technically it's best to import the templates in order to show the edit history, since they contain original creative content contributed under the CC-BY-SA / GFDL. --Doug.(Disputatio Conlationes) 10:46, 29 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply

No, from what I understand it seems to be like this:

  • Iwpage: take 1 page from Page:
  • Iwpages: take 1 or more pages from Page:
  • IwpageSection: take 1 section of a page from Page:
  • Iwtrans: take 1 page from ns0

You're right about import, I'll try to remember next time Candalua 10:52, 29 Augusti 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bot flag?

[recensere]

Now that you've requested and been flagged on en.ws, can we flag you on here as well?--Doug.(Disputatio Conlationes) 11:57, 17 Octobris 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, if the community wants to... I'm not asking for the flag in small subdomains, because in many of them the edits are few and it could be preferable to keep seeing them. Feel free to operate both ways. Candalua 12:42, 17 Octobris 2011 (UTC)Reply

Chiesto il flag bot

[recensere]

Ho chiesto un flag bot in Scriptorium, come immagini l'idea è di usarlo per lavoretti ad hoc, principalmente per le opere bilingui it/la. Spero di non aver fatto la solita confusione..... --Alex brollo (disputatio) 23:41, 22 Maii 2012 (UTC)Reply

Problema in edittools

[recensere]

Ora è a posto.
--Alex brollo (disputatio) 22:45, 12 Iulii 2013 (UTC)Reply

Without text category name

[recensere]

Hi, such a change requires null-editing of all pages of this status and the category rename. Or, maybe, it should be reverted as non-intentional? [We did similar change {"Nieskorygowana -> "Przepisana") in pl.ws few months ago.] Ankry (disputatio) 06:53, 3 Iulii 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ankry, now I don't remember exactly but it was probably a mistake, I was creating the new "summary" messages and I think I got one wrong. So let's revert it, or overwrite it on la.source. Actually, a better translation would probably be "Sine texto". But such a change should first be discussed in la.source, so let's get it back to "Vacuus" for now. Candalua (disputatio) 07:54, 3 Iulii 2018 (UTC)Reply
Neverless, null-eding of some pages may be required after the revert propagates here. Ankry (disputatio) 11:55, 3 Iulii 2018 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users

[recensere]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Workflow on Latin Wikisource

[recensere]

Hi Candalua. As someone more involved over in English Wiktionary, I'm very mystified by how things are supposed to work here on Latin Wikisource (the only Wikisource I use). I have some questions. How does the page checking/validation process work? Who and/or what determines whether a page needs to have every edit checked to be viewable by default (e.g. Vulgata Clementina) or not (e.g. book 7 of De Bello Gallico)? For the former type of page, is there a way to coordinate with you, or the other handful of people who on occasion seem to edit this place, to get an edit approved? (Is there a Discord, or a special page where you can see the pages pending a review, or something?)

Every page with a pending review links to Auxilium:Page validation (with an English title, lol) - it'd be nice to write something there about what our actual conventions are. - Ser be etre shi (disputatio) 02:43, 24 Septembris 2024 (UTC)Reply
